Corydoras elegant, scientific name Corydoras elegans, belongs to the family Callichthyidae (Shell or callicht catfish). The name comes from the Latin word elegans, which means β€œbeautiful, elegant, beautiful.” The fish is native to South America. It inhabits the upper basin of the Amazon River in the vast expanses of northern Peru, Ecuador, and the western regions of Brazil.
