Taiwan Moss Mini

Taiwan Moss Mini, scientific name Isopterygium sp. Mini Taiwan Moss. It first appeared in the aquarium trade in the early 2000s in Singapore. The exact area of growth is not known. According to Professor Benito C. Tan from the National University of Singapore, this species is supposedly a close relative of the mosses of the genus Taxiphyllum, to which, for example, the popular Java moss or Vesicularia Dubi belong.

Outwardly, it is almost identical to other types of Asian mosses. Forms dense clusters of highly branched sprouts covered with miniature leaves. It grows on the surface of snags, stones, rocks and other rough surfaces, attaching to them with rhizoids.

Representatives of the genus Isopterygium usually grow in humid places in the air, but according to the observations of a number of aquarists, they can be completely submerged in water for a long time (more than six months), therefore they are quite suitable for use in aquariums.

It is easy to grow and does not make high demands on its maintenance. It is noted that moderate lighting and additional introduction of CO2 will promote growth and branching. Cannot be placed on the ground. Grows only on hard surfaces. When initially placed, the moss tuft can be secured to a snag/rock using fishing line or plant glue.
