kinaiya

The Polish Ogar is a breed of hounds known since the 13th century. However, despite its considerable age, it has not yet been possible to establish its exact origin and ancestors. Experts believe that the ancestors of the Ogar are Austrian and German hounds, and its closest relative is polish hound.

Like many European breeds, the Ogar was on the brink of extinction during World War II. An interesting fact: two colonels, who were avid hunters, were able to save the Polish dogs. Jozef Pavlusevich was engaged in the restoration of the Polish hound, and Piotr Kartavik – the Polish ogar. In honor of the latter, competitions among hunting dogs have even been established today.

The Polish Ogar is an atypical representative of the group of hound breeds. On the one hand, he has all the features inherent in these animals: active in work, devoted to the owner, happy to make contact, able to demonstrate independence. And on the other hand, thanks to the developed security skills, he serves as a watchman, which is not at all typical for hounds. The thing is that this is a very loving breed. If an ogar recognized a member of his pack in a person, be sure that the pet will do everything in order to protect him. This focus on the family makes his character exceptional. Today, the Polish Ogar is often kept as a companion.

Behaviour

Many representatives of the breed do not trust strangers, behave with them with restraint and coldness, but do not show aggression. In general, angry and nervous dogs are excluded from breeding – these qualities are considered a breed defect.

The Polish ogar usually works not alone, but in pairs. This is a sociable dog that is able to compromise. With relatives, he quickly finds a common language, treats cats calmly and sometimes shows interest. Therefore, the neighborhood of animals will largely depend on the reaction of the feline representative to the dog in the house.

Breeders note the affection and tenderness of the Polish Ogar towards children. This is one of the few representatives of the hounds, who will be happy to patronize the baby.

Pag-atiman sa Polish Hound

The short coat of the Polish Ogar does not require careful care from the owner. The dog follows comb out twice a week during shedding season. The rest of the time, it is enough to carry out this procedure once a week.

It is important to periodically inspect hanging ears pet. Dogs with this type of ear are at risk: they often develop otitis media and other ENT diseases due to poor ventilation of the organ and insufficient hygiene.

Mga kondisyon sa detensyon

Phlegmatic and even a little lazy at home, the Polish ogar is tireless at work. If the dog is kept as a companion, it needs intensive sports and running. And walks should last at least three hours a day.
